IN THE BEGINNING

The vision we had in 1978 for a personal mask to help avoid direct mouth contact during CPR was the beginning of Rondex. We had a slow start for at that time a CPR mask was almost unheard of by most everyone. What encouraged us that there was a need for a CPR mask was the fact that nearly 30% of cardiac arrest patients frequently vomit before or during CPR. We believed people would be more willing to do ventilations if they had a mask to blow into and not make direct contact with the victim's mouth. Then in the 1980's, HIV/AIDS became a great concern which caused a rapid growth in the CPR mask/shield market. Over the years many companies came on the scene and had production done in China. We stayed true to employing Americans and kept our manufacturing in the USA which allowed us to maintain our quality standards and be a dependable suppiier. The reasons for our success as an American manufacturer is the design, the features and the quality.

DESIGN
One design consideration of the RONDEX CPR ISO-SHIELD is how the barrier material is attached to the valve housing.
RONDEX does not use heat on the barrier material.  Some competitors heat the barrier material to join it to the valve housing.  This can result in a weak joint which can result in the separation of the two parts.
RONDEX compresses the barrier between two plastic surfaces which eliminates the need for heating of the barrier material.

FEATURES
One of the features of the ISO-SHIELD is the TWO silicone valves in tandem which reduces the risk of back flow to the operator.

QUALITY
The quality of the ISO-SHIELD is reflected in the quality of the materials. Silicone material for the valves, and a plastic for the barrier that is flexible to -40 degrees C/F. The ISO-SHIELD has a shelf life of 20 years. Rondex has manufactured the ISO-SHIELD since 1995, (See ISO-SHIELD comparison)
